San Francisco 49'ers coach Mike Singletary said in his season-ending press conference that he wants a more balanced, potentially run-first offense in 2010 and that Alex Smith likely will be the team's starting QB. The 49ers flirted with an all-out spread attack after installing Alex Smith at QB, but Singletary wants the offense more like it was in the final four games. Frank Gore averaged 23 carries a game in the last month, and had three 100+ yard rushing efforts.
Fantasy Take:
Assuming he stays healthy, Gore should be able to build significantly on his 229 carries. However Alex Smith as the starting QB doesn't bode well for fantasy leaguers.
