With WR Ronald Curry (foot) sidelined, fellow WR's Drew Carter and Javon Walker were the Oakland Raiders' first-team wideouts at May OTAs.
Fantasy Take:
Carter is the favorite for third receiver duties over Johnnie Lee Higgins and Arman Shields. Hopefully we'll get some word on how Walker (knee) looked. Carter could surprise people, I just hope he's not pressed into duty this season.

The Oakland Raiders WR Ronald Curry underwent surgery on his foot two weeks ago.
He'll at least miss the team's first mandatory minicamp June 3-5. Curry was questionable for one game last year with an undisclosed foot injury and tore his Achilles in 2004, but it's unclear what...
Fantasy Take:
Curry, Oakland's leading receiver in 2007, may not be a sure thing for the start of training camp or the season for that matter. This is a tough one given how injury prone Curry has been. If he's healthy I think he's a solid receiver for us this year but he could just as easily miss...

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Oakland Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell "looks slim" at the first day of media access to OTAs. Russell says he's at 269 pounds, and was never close to the reported 300 pounds that offseason rumors had him weighing. Last year's No. 1 overall...
Fantasy Take:
What matters most is Russel's conditioning and physical strength, if both of those are good, then its great that he's nearly 270 pounds.
LaMont Jordan likely will be released in the next month or so as the Raiders have too much depth at the position.

The New York Jets' organization is "clearly pulling" for Kellen Clemens to win the starting quarterback job, according to the New York Post. However veteran QB Chad Pennington ran the first-team offense as the Jets opened Organized Team Activities on Thursday. Pennington was chosen...
Fantasy Take:
Clemens has the stronger arm, is more athletic, and can establish himself as a franchise QB with a strong year, but there won't be a clear favorite when camp opens. That said if the competition is even, they'll likely go with the higher upside in Clemens.

The Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson says he anticipates catching more than the 19 passes he caught as a rookie in 2008. Simply because he will get more playing time, Peterson should have no problem catching 25-30 balls.
Fantasy Take:
Chester Taylor likely will remain the Vikes' top option on third downs but Peterson should still be a top 3 RB selection in '08 fantasy drafts.

Recently acquired TE Anthony Fasano is considered the frontrunner to start at tight end for the Miami Dolphins this season. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel suggests Akin Ayodele was only a "throw-in" part of the trade that sent Fasano to Miami.
Fantasy Take:
Fasano's pass-catching skills weren't used behind Jason Witten, but he caught 92 balls at Notre Dame and is faster than John Carlson. Fasano should be able to shake off the rust and could be a fantasy sleeper in a TE friendly system.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards says that if the Chiefs sign a veteran receiver, it won't be until after training camp has started. The depth chart has Dwayne Bowe & Jeff Webb as the starters, with Devard Darling in the #3 spot. Jeff Webb has two career starts and Devard Darling...
Fantasy Take:
At this point the only WR with any fantasy value is Dwayne Bowe but for folks in deep leagues don't forget Webb and Darling, one of which will start opposite Bowe & Tony Gonzales (a top 5 fantasy TE).

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson reportedly "looked terrific" at the Lions' first round of offseason workouts. Johnson apparently looked much like he did last year before a troublesome back injury.
Fantasy Take:
Though Detroit will pass less frequently under new OC Jim Colletto, Johnson has high-scoring #2 fantasy WR upside due to his red zone size.

The Tennessee Titans new offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger says the Titans' receiver group is in "one giant wad" with no obvious favorites to start. Justin McCareins and Justin Gage ran with the first unit at OTAs, but that may only be due to Roydell Williams' ankle injury....
Fantasy Take:
That's an interesting note, especially given how wide open the WR position in Tennessee is. However he's unlikely to have any fantasy value in '08, so unless you're in a deep, deep keeper league, don't waste your time with Ealy this year.

Tennessee Titans RB LenDale White revealed Tuesday that he played all of the 2007 season with a torn meniscus. The meniscus is cartilage in the knee that ensures weight is distributed evenly, and is the reason White suffered pain in the joint all season. He underwent arthroscopic surgery on his...
Fantasy Take:
You can knock White for his weight, but there was no denying his toughness throughout last season. His fantasy value took a little hit with the draft selection of 1st round pick Chris Johnson but he still is the short yardage guy in Tennessee.
