The Chicago Bears signed K Robbie Gould to a five-year, $15.5 million extension through 2013. The deal includes a $4.25 million signing bonus. Gould looked shaky as a rookie in 2005, but has since canned 24 of his 30 tries from 40+ and missed only three kicks total inside that range.
Fantasy Take:
While the conditions at Soldier Field and an awful-looking passing game curtail his fantasy upside for this season, Gould is legitimately among the five best kickers in the NFL.

The Atlanta Falcons agreed to terms with K Jason Elam on a four-year, $9 million contract, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter. The deal includes $3.3 million guaranteed and ensures that Morten Andersen won't be back for another year.
Fantasy Take:
Elam, 38, spent his entire career to this point in Denver. He'll be kicking in a dome now, but has lost some of his range and will be part of what projects to be a well below average offense.

The New York Giants have reportedly re-signed K Lawrence Tynes to new a five-year, $7 million contract.
Tynes delivered in the clutch, hitting a 47-yard game winner in the Giants' NFC title win over the Packers. He was solid during the regular season, connecting on 23-of-27 of his field...
Fantasy Take:
Tynes has struggled with consistency in the past and missed a PAT in all four of his seasons, and nearly cost the Giants the NFC Championship game but he has shown good leg. For fantasy leaguers he's a second tier guy, which means he's only worth having in the right matchup.

Each week I attempt to compile a diverse list of potential Waiver Wire / Free Agent pickups for week 10 of the NFL season. I play in a 16 team league where we start 9 players (no defense, only 1 kicker) so we're always looking for that #3 QB or RB who emerges to be the final piece on a...
Fantasy Take:
QB's J.P. Losman (30% of leagues) – He was on our list last week so he’s unlikely still available but if he is and you’re lacking a good #2 QB, jump on this guy; David Garrard (41% of leagues)– He’s not a good start this week vs. Tennessee but he will return to the starting lineup; RB's...

Houston Texans QB Ahman Green (knee) is probable for this weekend vs. the Titans after practicing today. WR Andre Johnson (knee) remains doubtful, and has not taken part in practice all week. PK Kris Brown (foot) had not practiced all week, but partially practiced today, and he is probable. Same...
Fantasy Take:
Green has a tough matchup vs a tough run defense in Tennessee. With Andre Johnson out at WR, Kevin Walter remains a primary target and likely an underrated fantasy performer for another week.

Here are the my hot free agent / waiver wire pickups for week 7 In my fantasy league we have 16 teams which start 9 guys each (no defense, 1 Kicker, 1 TE, 2 RB, 2 WR & 1 QB with 2 flex spots). So these may not be relevant to all fantasy leaguers but most are valuable guys who either will...
Fantasy Take:
QB Vinny Testaverde (CAR) - Testaverde is strictly a bye week replacement and since the Panthers are on a bye this week, he may not have much long-term value. QB Tim Rattay (ARI) - Rattay is ensured of starting this week with Kurt Warner out with a torn ligament in his arm and nobody else on the...

Fantasy Take:
QB's Daunte Culpepper & Trent Dilfer (though only in deep deep leagues do you want the 49'er starting QB)
RB's Michael Pittman, Selvin Young, Justin Fargas and Earnest Graham (though only pick up the Tampa Bay back if you also have Pittman who likely will carry the ball a bit...

Excerpt: Ahh, yes the kicker question for those wise enough not to draft a kicker in Round 7 (yes, happened in one of my leagues), and now looking for some kicker advice. I think that first, I would look at the kicker's own team and make sure that they are a strong enough offense...

A group of kickers arrived at Jacksonville on Tuesday to try out for the job Josh Scobee will vacate for a to-be-determined amount of time. Jack Del Rio said one of "four or five" kickers will be signed for this Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. He confirmed that Mike...
Fantasy Take:
This will only be a temporary fix for the injured Josh Scobee, so don't pay too much attention to this unless you're in a very deep fantasy league.
