Recently acquired TE Anthony Fasano is considered the frontrunner to start at tight end for the Miami Dolphins this season. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel suggests Akin Ayodele was only a "throw-in" part of the trade that sent Fasano to Miami.
Fantasy Take:
Fasano's pass-catching skills weren't used behind Jason Witten, but he caught 92 balls at Notre Dame and is faster than John Carlson. Fasano should be able to shake off the rust and could be a fantasy sleeper in a TE friendly system.

The Cleveland Browns beat writer Tony Grossi guesses that WR Braylon Edwards will get a new contract before TE Kellen Winslow. Edwards, who has two years left on his rookie deal, hasn't expressed any displeasure with his contract. Winslow feels he's underpaid, but has had at least four...
Fantasy Take:
The truth is Edwards, the #3 overall pick in the '05 draft, has developed into a top 5 NFL receiver, a true #1 type guy, while Winslow, the #6 overall pick in the '04 draft, has been more trouble off the field than he's been worth. He's a top 10 receiving TE but its unlikely that...

The Palm Beach Post suggests that Miami Dolphins TEs David Martin and Justin Peelle could be on the roster bubble this summer. Martin is an injury-prone former wideout who drops too many balls. Peelle is moreso a blocking specialist but the team now has Sean Ryan and Anthony Fasano who can play...
Fantasy Take:
Nothing meaningful here from a fantasy perspective, other than that Fasano is a fantasy sleeper in '08.

According to SI's Bucky Brooks, some Seattle Seahawks officials believe Bobby Engram's production has been inflated due to QB Matt Hasselbeck's belief in the veteran. There's also speculation that the shift to a more balanced offense will diminish Engram's role. The Seahawks...
Fantasy Take:
This looks like spin coming from Seattle, but it does point out that Engram's role is likely to decrease this year, especially considering he's going to be 35 and the Seahawks want to diversify their attack.

Jason Campbell's Keeper/ Dynasty stock should shoot up after the help he received in the NFL Draft.
Fantasy Take:
Two of the top Wide Receiver prospects and one of the top Tight End Prospects join Jim Zorn's offense that should feature 3-4 WR sets.

With the Washington Redskins rookie receiving additions in the draft (Devin Thomas & Malcolm Kelly), TE Chris Cooley could stay at tight end in four-receiver sets or come off the field if the team uses a running back. In the past, Cooley was often moved to the slot in four-wide formations.
Fantasy Take:
New head coach Jim Zorn figures to use more three- and four-receiver sets, so this could end up hurting Cooley's production. However Zorn favors a diverse passion attack so Cooley will be a primary target, he just may not be the #1 or #2 target he's been over the past couple of seasons.

Pro Football Weekly is hearing that the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants may already have a deal in place that would send TE Jeremy Shockey to New Orleans. PFW isn't the greatest source, but ESPN's Chris Mortensen says he's heard similar rumors. Pro Football Weekly says the...
Fantasy Take:
Shockey would have more fantasy value in New Orleans where the offense is more open.

The Miami Dolphins acquired TE Anthony Fasano and LB Akin Ayodele from the Cowboys in exchange for a fourth-round draft choice. Fasano's first two years in Dallas were nondescript playing behind Jason Witten, but he's only 24 and has promising all-around ability. He should be given every...
Fantasy Take:
The deal is well worth the pick for Miami, especially considering they're getting a starting LB and a TE worth starting.

The New York Jets TE Chris Baker formally has requested a trade, but the team turned him down.
Fantasy Take:
The Jets have shown no urgency to upgrade Baker's contract, and with nothing close to a viable replacement behind him on the depth chart (except the addition of Bubba Franks gives them some depth), Baker probably isn't going anywhere. Baker had 41 catches for 409 yards and three TDs in...

The New England Patriots agreed to terms with TE Marcus Pollard, formerly of the Seattle Seahawks. Pollard, 36, failed badly when given a chance to start in Seattle last year. Much less will be asked from him in New England.
Fantasy Take:
Pollard may only be on the roster long enough to see Benjamin Watson return from ankle surgery but this is a sign that the Pats aren't necessarily expecting Watson to return as soon as they've intimated to the public.
