With WR Ronald Curry (foot) sidelined, fellow WR's Drew Carter and Javon Walker were the Oakland Raiders' first-team wideouts at May OTAs.
Fantasy Take:
Carter is the favorite for third receiver duties over Johnnie Lee Higgins and Arman Shields. Hopefully we'll get some word on how Walker (knee) looked. Carter could surprise people, I just hope he's not pressed into duty this season.

The Oakland Raiders WR Ronald Curry underwent surgery on his foot two weeks ago.
He'll at least miss the team's first mandatory minicamp June 3-5. Curry was questionable for one game last year with an undisclosed foot injury and tore his Achilles in 2004, but it's unclear what...
Fantasy Take:
Curry, Oakland's leading receiver in 2007, may not be a sure thing for the start of training camp or the season for that matter. This is a tough one given how injury prone Curry has been. If he's healthy I think he's a solid receiver for us this year but he could just as easily miss...

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Oakland Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell "looks slim" at the first day of media access to OTAs. Russell says he's at 269 pounds, and was never close to the reported 300 pounds that offseason rumors had him weighing. Last year's No. 1 overall...
Fantasy Take:
What matters most is Russel's conditioning and physical strength, if both of those are good, then its great that he's nearly 270 pounds.
LaMont Jordan likely will be released in the next month or so as the Raiders have too much depth at the position.

The Oakland Raiders used RB Darren McFadden in a variety of sets, split out wide, direct snaps from center and as a typical RB. “The future’s looking nice,” LB Thomas Howard said after watching McFadden put on an impressive display that included taking direct snaps from center, hauling in a nice...
Fantasy Take:
Since McFadden will be splitting carries with Justin Fargas (and possibly Bush), it's important to note that his fantasy value will be helped by being heavily involved in the passing game. I can't wait to see the explosiveness in our offense next year!

Comment: on the road by L.T. and just about every other dominant NFL back so its legit...but I have a feeling the 49'ers will find a way to run the ball on the Steelers - but not enough to make it over 100 for Gore or to win in the Steeltown.

Comment: Curry and Jerry Porter, if Josh McCown can get some consistency, are both big time sleepers for this week against the 10 TD passes allowed defense of the Cleveland Browns.

Comment: I think we saw today how good the Minnesota defense is going to be but Roddy White never got any real opportunities...maybe later this year though I'm high on their rookie WR Laurent Robinson who looks like the real deal.

Comment: they should have pounded the ball up the middle with Deuce then spread the field in the 2nd half after the defensive line had been worn down. Instead they tried to play spread ball early, didn't have enough consistency and eventually the game was lost.
This was a great example where McAllister is still the better back compared to Bush. Bush is great in space but he doesn't have the size or decision making (Yet) to be a move the chains type runner. He's too often looking for the home run...

Comment: Russell will be like all the former QB's who were able to sit and learn during their rookie years and then were able to get a lot of reps all off-season. Which is to say, he'll be far more advanced than any rookie next season and likely more advanced mentally than many of the rookie's who actually played but were forced into tough lose-lose situations.
I'm biased (as a Raiders fan) but I think Russell sitting (assuming we get him signed) is the best thing for the franchise long-term.
